I’m instagram user @skeletent. I’m a trans masc individual who uses the platform to make memes and other content, primarily content exploring my own personal identity as a trans person. Several months ago I took this picture and tried to post it on instagram, as seen below:

Unsurprisingly, Instagram deleted the post and ignored my attempts to contact them about it. This isn’t the first time I’ve had posts of my body deleted, and as long as I have these ‘female-presenting’ breasts I know it won’t be the last.

As a trans person, I live in a body that doesn’t fit me correctly. When I have a rare moment of comfort in my skin, it’s something I feel like sharing- but i’m not allowed to? It’s unfair of a website like Instagram to block all attempts at my own self expression because my chest just so happens to be larger and more ‘female-presenting’ than other individuals. It’s suffocating to have my physical form policed by a society that attaches female gender to my chest.

Anyways, I think this is a cool project and I appreciate you putting out the call to receive stories and posts from lesser-known accounts. Thanks for taking the time to read my submission!

Best, Jesse Quinlan (they/he)
