statement: I have always strongly opposed Instagram’s content restrictions, but I think what has bothered me the most as I’ve started questioning my gender is that it feels like Instagram is punishing femininity. Nipples are not (and should not be) gendered, and furthermore, nudity and sex are a natural part of life. Since reading Instagram’s most recent guidelines surrounding nudity and sexual content on the platform, I find myself increasingly frustrated, as now the mere mention of sex is theoretically grounds for deletion. It astounds me that Instagram has not only stood behind their archaic restrictions, but continued to lock things down and pretend that nude bodies don’t exist.
